Taxon description
Obszar rozmieszczenia tego gatunku obejmuje środkową część kontynentu europejskiego, na wschód najdalej wysuniętym stanowiskiem jest Orenburg. W Polsce bardzo rzadki, notowany tylko z trzech krain. Larwy żerują w lipcu i sierpniu w koszyczkach kwiatowych starca gajowego — Senecio nemorensis L. i starca Fuchsa — Senecio fuchsii Gmel. Postacie dojrzałe w okresie wegetacyjnym spotykane na kwiatach roślin złożonych (Compositae), w zimie pod opadłym listowiem i wśród mchów na pobrzeżach lasów.
