Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986c:
Gatunek borealno-alpejski, zasiedlający lesiste tereny Fennoskandii i północne obszary ZSRR oraz Alpy, Sudety, Karpaty i góry w Bośni, Rumunii i Grecji. W Polsce chrząszcz ten należy do nadzwyczajnych rzadkości — notowano go dotychczas tylko z czterech krain, przy czym wszystkie dane o rozmieszczeniu oparte były na znaleziskach sprzed przeszło stu lat. Dwa okazy z Janowa koło Chełma były zebrane 7 VII 1874 roku (Tenenbaum 1918). Zasiedla stare, przegrzybiałe drzewa iglaste (świerk, sosna, jodła, modrzew). Postacie dojrzałe poławiano w czerwcu-sierpniu. Larwy żerują w hubach i pod obluźnioną korą w sąsiedztwie hub.
