Taxon description
Prószyński et Staręga 1971:
Gatunek znany z Grenlandii, całej Europy oraz Azji Środkowej. We wschodniej Palearktyce zastępuje go pokrewny Araneus pinguis (Karsch, 1879) (Yaginuma 1969). Zamieszkuje łąki, pola, ugory, niezależnie od ich wilgotności; często spotykany także w młodnikach sosnowych oraz na skrajach lasów i polanach.
