Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1978:
Gatunek szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w całej Europie, północne) i środkowej Azji, notowany również z Ameryki Północnej. Na kontynencie europejskim pospolity w północnej części, w miarę posuwania się na południe i zachód coraz rzadziej notowany. Występuje prawdopodobnie w całej Polsce na terenach nizinnych i pagórkowatych, ale na południu kraju rzadziej spotykany. Chrząszcz roślinożerny, jego larwy są powszechnie uznawane za poważnego szkodnika upraw buraków cukrowych i pastewnych, zwłaszcza na polach graniczących z terenami leśnymi, stwarzającymi dogodne warunki dla przezimowania postaci dorosłych.
