Gatunek rozmieszczony w południowej i środkowej części Europy, wykazywany ponadto z Maroka, Syberii Zachodniej i Japonii. W Polsce, chociaż nie znany jeszcze z wielu krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Spotykany od maja do sierpnia na różnych drzewach i krzewach, przeważnie na wierzbach i dębach oraz na kwitnących głogach i tarninach.
