Taxon description
Podgatunek nominotypowy rozsiedlony jest w Europie południowej i w południowej części Europy Środkowej, odrębne rasy występują w zachodniej części Afryki Północnej, Azji Mniejszej, Kaukazie, Syrii i Iranie. W Polsce jeszcze nie stwierdzony, ale istnieje możliwość jego występowania u nas, gdyż najbliżej położone stanowiska leżą na Słowacji i Podolu. Dotychczasowe ogólnikowe wzmianki o występowaniu w Polsce opierały się na stanowiskach leżących obecnie poza naszą wschodnią granicą. Zasiedla tereny nizinne i niższe położenia górskie do wysokości 1200 m n.p.m. Larwy żyją pod korą obumierających dębów, notowane są także z pni kasztanów, czereśni, a nawet jałowca. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się w maju i przeżywają do sierpnia. Poławiane są zwykle metodą otrząsania gałęzi dębu oraz zbierania na żółto kwitnących roślinach z rodziny złożonych (Compositae) oraz na kwiatach baldaszkowatych (Umbelliferae).
