Taxon description
Szeroko rozprzestrzeniony gatunek od zachodniej i środkowej Europy aż do krajów śródziemnomorskich, notowany nadto z jednej południowej prowincji Szwecji, z Ameryki Północnej i Meksyku. W Polsce znany tylko z pięciu krain, przy tym wzmianki o występowaniu w nich opierają się na znaleziskach co najmniej sprzed 40 laty i wymagają potwierdzenia nowymi materiałami. Zasiedla bagniste pobrzeża jezior, stawów i kałuż, gdzie znajdowany pod gnijącymi roślinami nadwodnymi i wśród wilgotnych mchów, zwłaszcza z rodzaju Sphagnum Ehrh.
