Taxon description
Gatunek prawdopodobnie kosmopolityczny, znany z południowej części Palearktyki oraz Madagaskaru, Cejlonu, Japonii, Ameryki Północnej i Południowej. W Europie rozsiedlony od krajów śródziemnomorskich do południowej części środkowej Europy, gdzie jest jednak rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany. W Polsce znany tylko z trzech krain. W Europie występuje jako synantrop w sąsiedztwie budynków w gospodarstwach rolnych, w ogrodach, stodołach i stogach. Poławiany w pryzmach kompostowych, nawozie, w gnijących resztkach roślinnych (siano, słoma, wypielone zielsko, łęty ziemniaczane).
