Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1983:
Gatunek występujący w Europie południowo-wschodniej i w południowo-wschodniej części Europy Środkowej, na Kaukazie, w Azji Mniejszej, Armenii i Syberii Zachodniej. W Polsce chrząszcz nadzwyczaj rzadko spotykany, znany z kilku stanowisk w południowej części kraju, przy tym dane o rozmieszczeniu na Nizinie Sandomierskiej i w Beskidzie Zachodnim oparte są na znaleziskach sprzed przeszło stu lat i wymagają potwierdzenia nowymi materiałami. Wzmianka Z. Stebnickiej (1978), jakoby omawiany gatunek był wykazany z okolic Poznania, nie ma w piśmiennictwie uzasadnienia. Zasiedla gleby gliniaste i czarnoziemy w strefie lasostepu. Larwy żyją w glebie, odżywiając się korzeniami traw i roślin, zielnych. Cykl rozwojowy trwa około dwu lat. Postacie dorosłe poławiane są w lecie.
