Taxon description
Bardzo rzadko spotykany gatunek europejski, notowany z północnych Włoch, ze wschodniej części Europy Środkowej oraz z zachodnich obszarów Półwyspu Bałkańskiego. W Polsce znany z nielicznych stanowisk, rozsianych w różnych częściach kraju. Występuje na dziko rosnącej gruszy pospolitej — Pirus communis L. oraz na innych odmianach grusz uprawianych w sadach. Pojaw postaci dojrzałych na drzewach rozpoczyna się na wiosnę; żerują one na liściach i kwiatach. Samice w maju składają jaja do pączków liściowych. Larwy żerują w pączkach, a komory poczwarkowe sporządzają w kokonie utworzonym z liści. W końcu maja i na początku czerwca pojawiają się młode imagines, które diapauzę letnią i zimową spędzają w glebie na głębokości 2-5 cm, a wiosną opuszczają kwatery zimowe przy temperaturze 7-14° C.
