Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w południowej, zachodniej i środkowej części Europy, sięgający na północ do południowych części Anglii i Szwecji, wykazywany również z Algierii i Tunisu. W Polsce bardzo rzadko poławiany, znany jedynie z siedmiu krain. Zamieszkuje głównie miejsca wilgotne, tylko niekiedy jest spotykany na całkiem suchych stanowiskach. Bionomia słabo poznana; niektórzy autorzy przypuszczają, że larwa żyje na nisko rosnących gatunkach z rodzaju turzyca — Carex L. oraz kosmatka — Luzula Dc. Postać dojrzała po przezimowaniu ukazuje się w kwietniu, nowa generacja pojawia się od lipca. Na jesieni i w zimie chrząszcze znajdowano wśród suchych mchów, a na wiosnę w napływkach; podczas powodzi wdrapują się na łodygi roślin.
