Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986b:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w prawie całej Europie (prócz północnych prowincji Fennoskandii), wykazywany też z Kaukazu i Azji Mniejszej. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, lecz nie został zaobserwowany jeszcze w niektórych krainach. Zamieszkuje tereny nizinne i górzyste, docierając do strefy subalpejskiej. Występuje w lasach iglastych, zwłaszcza na świerkach i sosnach. Postacie dojrzałe i larwy są bardzo drapieżne. Odżywiają się mszycami. Zimujące chrząszcze spotykano pod odstającą korą i wśród mchów pod drzewami.
