Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w niemal całej Europie, w Azji Mniejszej i Azji Środkowej. W Europie na północ dociera do Wysp Brytyjskich, południowej Fennoskandii po dorzecze dolnej Wołgi. Występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich, ale nie jest wykazany jeszcze z wielu krain. Zasiedla pobrzeża wód i miejsca wilgotne, gdzie żeruje na kosaćcu żółtym — Iris pseudoacorus L.
