Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1992:
Gatunek palearktyczny, w Europie rozsiedlony od krajów śródziemnomorskich po Wyspy Brytyjskie, Danię i południową Szwecję. W Polsce, chociaż nie jest jeszcze znany z niektórych krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, prócz wyższych partii górskich. Żyje na różnych gatunkach z rodziny ślazowatych — Malvaceae, zarówno dzikich, jak i hodowanych. Spotykany najczęściej na ślazie dzikim — Malva silvestris L., ślazie drobnokwiatowym — M. pusilla Sm. et Sow. i prawoślazie lekarskim — Althaea officinalis L. Larwa żeruje oraz odbywa rozwój w korzeniu i w rdzeniu dolnej części łodygi, gdzie wygryza podłużną owalną komorę.
