Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący zachodnią, środkową i całą północną część Europy. Wszędzie, również w Polsce, rzadko spotykany, znany u nas tylko z kilku stanowisk w trzech krainach. J. Gerhardt (1891c) wątpi o jego występowaniu na Śląsku i nie umieszcza go w spisie chrząszczy śląskich, co nie jest jednak uzasadnione, gdyż uprzednio i później był notowany z tego obszaru. Wymagania ekologiczne słabo poznane, w Słowacji poławiany wśród mchów.
