Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w prawie całej Europie z wyjątkiem północnej części Fennoskandii; wszędzie rzadko spotykany. Występowanie na Śląsku i w Sudetach Zachodnich, jak i w ogóle w Polsce, wymaga dokładnych badań, gdyż J. Gerhardt (1919) w swym spisie chrząszczy śląskich nie wykazał omawianego gatunku, mimo że uprzednio dwukrotnie był on notowany z Sudetów przez tego autora i przez K. Letznera. Poławiany w hubach nadrzewnych.
