Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986a:
Gatunek opisany ze wschodniej Azji, w Chinach i Japonii jest bardzo pospolitym chrząszczem. Z Azji został zawleczony do Anglii, skąd rozprzestrzenił się szeroko w zachodniej, północnej i środkowej Europie, gdzie się zaaklimatyzował. W Polsce stosunkowo niedawno został odkryty na jednym stanowisku. Żyje wśród wszelkiego rodzaju rozkładających się szczątków roślinnych, zarówno w pomieszczeniach zamkniętych (stodoły, szopy, obory i stajnie) jak i na miejscach otwartych (pryzmy kompostowe, gnijące siano, słoma, wypielone zielsko). Spotykany w ciągu całego roku.
