Taxon description
Gatunek występujący w środkowej części Europy oraz lokalnie na izolowanych stanowiskach w sąsiednich krajach południowych. Chrząszcz ten uważany jest za relikt lasów pierwotnych; wszędzie, również u nas, bardzo rzadko spotykany. W Polsce notowany z pojedynczych stanowisk w czterech krainach południowych. Żyje w owocnikach hub rosnących na bukach i wierzbach. Jako grzyby żywicielskie podawano gatunki należące do rodzaju żagiew — Polyporus (Mich.) ex Fr. em. Donk
