Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w Azji Zachodniej, Afryce Północnej, południowej i środkowej części Europy, notowany poza tym z dwu południowych prowincji Szwecji. W Europie w miarę posuwania się na północ i na zachód coraz rzadziej spotykany, najczęściej lokalnie na suchych, piaszczystych terenach, gdzie jest prawdopodobnie reliktem cieplejszego okresu postglacjalnego. W Polsce zasiedla głównie obszary nizinne i niższe położenia górskie. Buduje swoje gniazda pod ekskrementami bydlęcymi.
