Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1985:

Szeroko rozprzestrzeniony gatunek eurosyberyjski, występujący w całej niemal Europie z wyjątkiem jej skrajnych obszarów północnych i południowych, docierający na wschód przez Syberię do Morza Japońskiego. W Polsce dość rzadko spotykany, znany z nielicznych miejscowości w różnych częściach kraju — z niektórych krain tylko z jednego stanowiska. Występuje głównie na piaszczystych terenach nizinnych i pagórkowatych, zwłaszcza na wydmach i suchych wrzosowiskach. Larwa żyje w piaszczystej glebie, przepoczwarczając się późnym latem dość głęboko pod powierzchnią ziemi. Postać dojrzała zimuje w komorze poczwarkowej, a na powierzchni ukazuje się w końcu kwietnia i w maju. Chrząszcze poławiano do czerwca w detrytusie i w przyziemnej strefie nisko rosnącej roślinności.
