Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w Europie Wschodniej od południowych części Fennoskandii i Karelii przez jej część środkową aż do Półwyspu Bałkańskiego, docierający na zachód do środkowej Łaby; notowany nadto z zachodniej części Azji. W Polsce nie został stwierdzony w sposób pewny. Jedyna wzmianka, pochodząca sprzed blisko stu lat, nie została później potwierdzona, a o występowaniu omawianego gatunku w Prusach wątpi A. Horion (1953). Jednak, opierając się na danych z piśmiennictwa o rozmieszczeniu ogólnym, należy przypuszczać, że C. atramentarius Er. występuje w naszym kraju. Zamieszkuje lasy liściaste z udziałem dębu. Larwy rozwijają się w glebie na nasłonecznionych miejscach przy podstawie pni dębów. Przepoczwarczenie następuje w sierpniu. Postacie dojrzałe zimują i ukazują się na powierzchni wczesną wiosną i przeżywają do sierpnia.
