Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w południowej i środkowej Europie, na północ docierający do południowych części Anglii, Szwecji i Finlandii, nadto notowany z północnej Afryki, Azji Mniejszej, Syberii i Ameryki Północnej. W Polsce rzadko i sporadycznie znajdowany, przy tym z niektórych krain od kilkudziesięciu, a nawet przeszło stu lat, powtórnie nie stwierdzony. Zasiedla szlamiste pobrzeża rzek i potoków, stawów i kałuż, gdzie znajdowany jest zwykle pod kamieniami i gnijącymi szczątkami roślinnymi.
