Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1986a:

Gatunek kosmopolityczny, którego ojczyzną pierwotną są kraje o gorącym klimacie, skąd z suszonymi owocami sporadycznie bywa importowany do różnych miast w strefie umiarkowanej. W środkowej Europie prawdopodobnie w niektórych rejonach zaaklimatyzował się, gdyż poza magazynami i składami towarów kolonialnych znajdowany był również w warunkach naturalnych. W Polsce notowany z rozproszonych stanowisk w ośmiu krainach. Notowany jako szkodnik owoców suszonych.
