Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący południową i środkową część Europy, na północ docierający do Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowej Szwecji, notowany ponadto z Wysp Kanaryjskich, Maroka, Kaukazu, Syrii i Syberii. W Polsce, aczkolwiek nie był notowany z niektórych krain, prawdopodobnie występuje na całym obszarze, być może z wyjątkiem wyższych partii górskich. Zasiedla łąki, pola, przydroża i zarośla. Roślinami żywicielskimi tego gatunku są koniczyna różnoogonkowa — Trifolium campestre Schreb., koniczyna złocistożółta — T. strepens Cr. i koniczyna drobnogłówkowa — T. dubium Sibth. Larwy żerują w szyi korzeniowej i w niższej części łodygi, powodując na nich wyrosła beczułkowate, rzadziej wrzecionowate.
