Gatunek rozmieszczony wokół wybrzeży Morza Śródziemnego, w południowo-wschodniej i południowej Europie, na północ sięgający po Belgię, środkowe części RFN i NRD, Sudety, Karpaty Zachodnie i Podole. W Polsce rzadko spotykany, znany tylko z Ojcowa i dorzecza Nidy. Występuje na stanowiskach roślinności kserotermicznej. Roślinami żywicielskimi są szczaw polny — Rumex acetosa L. i przelot pospolity — Anthyllis vulneraria L.
