Taxon description
Gatunek europejsko-syberyjski, zawleczony do Ameryki. Północnej.
Holocykliczny i jednodomny. Żeruje na gałęziach, rzadziej na pniu sosny zwyczajnej — Pinus silvestris L. i kosówki — Pinus mugo Turra; w parkach atakuje także inne gatunki sosny: Pinus strobus L., Pinus L. sp. Tworzy zwykle duże kolonie odwiedzane przez mrówki.
