Taxon description
Gatunek borealno-górski, występujący w Fennoskandii, Karelii i północno-wschodniej części Europy oraz w obszarach górzystych Lasu Czeskiego i w Karpatach. W Polsce chrząszcz mało znany, notowany z dwu krain. Zasiedla tylko pnie martwych, ale stojących jeszcze świerków, rzadziej sosen. Znajdowany pod lekko odstającą korą i w żerowiskach kornika drukarza — Ips typographus (L.).
