Taxon description
Obszar rozsiedlenia tego ryjkowca obejmuje zachodnią część Afryki Północnej, południową i środkową część Europy, sięgając na wschód przez Ukrainę aż po Turkmenię. W Polsce notowany głównie z terenów nizinnych i wyżynnych; z obszarów górzystych znany dotychczas tylko z jednego stanowiska w Beskidzie Zachodnim. Występuje przeważnie na glebach piaszczystych suchych łąk, pastwisk, miedz, odłogów, przydroży, rumowisk i pobrzeży lasu. Żyje na krwawniku pospolitym — Achillea millefolium L., bylicy pospolitej — Artemisia vulgaris L., złocieniu właściwym — Chrysanthemum leucanthemum L., rumianie żółtym — Anthemis tinctoria L. i marunie bezwonnej -Tripleurospermum inodorum (L.) Schultz-Bip. W maju-czerwcu samica składa jaja pojedynczo na szyi korzeniowej. Larwy żerują na korzeniach od czerwca do lipca, a od połowy lipca do końca sierpnia przepoczwarczają się w glebie.
