Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Czas pojawu motyla VI—VII. Gąsienice od drugiej połowy VIII do pocz. X żerują pojedynczo na bylicy polnej w miejscach nasłonecznionych (ugory, przytorza itp.). Ubarwienie gąsienic zmienne, od czerwonobrązowego do jasnozielonego, w zależności od barwy rośliny żywicielskiej. W momencie niebezpieczeństwa gąsienice reagują skrętami ciała na boki i upadkiem na ziemię. Gatunek znany z wielu okolic, miejscami dość pospolity. Gąsienica bardzo podobna do gąsienicy kapturnicy piołunówki (Cucullia absinthii), różni się od niej innym rysunkiem linii grzbietowej. Zimują poczwarki jak u poprzedniego gatunku (Cucullia fraudatrix).
