Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Czas pojawu motyla — koniec VI, VII do pocz. VIII. Gąsienice, żerujące na bylicy pospolitej w VII i IX mają dwojaki rodzaj ubarwienia, zróżnicowany po pierwszych linieniach: jeden szarobrązowofioletowy, drugi z zielonymi plamami. Wszystkie formy barwne odznaczają się dwoma równoległymi ciemnoobrzeżonymi pasami wzdłuż grzbietowej części ciała. W przypadku zaniepokojenia ratują się ucieczką i upadkiem na ziemię. Jeden z rzadszych gatunków kapturnic. Zimują poczwarki w mocnych, filcowatych oprzędach płytko w ziemi.
