Gatunek rozmieszczony od Francji przez środkową i południową Europę aż do Syberii Zachodniej. Żyje na słonecznych, suchych, piaszczystych i skąpo porośniętych glebach z podsiąkającą wodą z warstw głębszych do górnych.
