Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1983:
[KFP 2599: Cytilus auricomus] Gatunek rozmieszczony w północnej i środkowej części Europy, na zachód sięgający po Francję północną i wschodnią, a na południe do Włoch północnych. Rozsiedlenie w Polsce jest niedostatecznie poznane, gdyż często mylono go z pokrewnym gatunkiem C.sericeus (Forst.). Prócz stanowisk sprawdzonych przez M. Mroczkowskiego (1958) wszystkie inne wymagają rewizji oznaczeń. Zasiedla zarówno tereny nizinne, jak i górzyste, gdzie dociera do około 1200 m n.p.m. Występuje przeważnie na wilgotnych, torfowiskowych i bagnistych glebach wśród traw oraz mchów, zwłaszcza gatunków z rodzaju Sphagnum Ehrhardt.

[KFP 2600: Cytilus sericeus] Gatunek holarktyczny, w Europie szeroko rozpowszechniony, w Fennoskandii docierający do skrajnych prowincji północnych, a w południowych częściach kontynentu występujący w górach; w Alpach sięga do wysokości około 2400 m n.p.m. W Polsce chrząszcz dość pospolity, ale stosunkowo rzadko notowany, po uwzględnieniu danych ze zbiorów znany z całego obszaru. Występuje wśród mchów na wilgotnych miejscach w lasach, na łąkach i pobrzeżach wód.
