Taxon description
Obszar rozsiedlenia tego gatunku obejmuje znaczną część Europy i Azji, w Fennoskandii przekracza koło podbiegunowe. W Polsce znany z nielicznych stanowisk rozproszonych w różnych częściach kraju. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się wiosną i są poławiane do sierpnia. Larwy odbywają rozwój na korzeniach trzcin — Phragmites Adans, a chrząszcze żerują na liściach trzciny pospolitej — Phragmites communis Tren. i mozgi trzcinowatej — Phalaris arundinacea L.
