Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie środkową część Europy, docierający na północ do Danii, południowych obszarów Fennoskandii i Karelii, a na południe sięgający po środkowe Włochy i północną część Półwyspu Bałkańskiego; wykazywany poza tym z Algierii, Kaukazu, Kazachstanu i Kraju Nadmorskiego. Większość danych o jego występowaniu w Polsce pochodzi z krain południowych, jednak niektóre z nich opierają się na znaleziskach z ubiegłego stulecia, dlatego też wymagają potwierdzenia. Larwy rozwijają się w żeńskich pączkach kwiatowych topoli osiki — Populus tremula L., topoli białej — P. alba L. i topoli czarnej — P. nigra L. Postacie dojrzałe poławiano na wierzbie wiciowej — Salix viminalis L. i wierzbie iwie — S. caprea L.
