Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1976:

Halofilny gatunek europejsko-azjatycki, rozmieszczony w Europie wzdłuż wybrzeży morskich do Bałtyku przez Atlantyk i Morze Śródziemne aż do Morza Czarnego, występuje również na słonawiskach wewnątrzlądowych, gdzie niekiedy poławiany jest w ogromnej liczbie osobników. W rejonie Bałtyku w miarę posuwania się w kierunku wschodnim coraz rzadziej spotykany w związku ze zmniejszającym się zasoleniem morza. W Skandynawii znany tylko z południowych wybrzeży. W Polsce stanowiska nie wykazujące widocznego zasolenia winny być potwierdzone nowymi badaniami.
