Taxon description
Gatunek zasiedlający niemal całą Europę, na północy wykraczający daleko poza kolo podbiegunowe. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry, na ogół rzadko spotykany i nie notowany jeszcze z wielu krain. Według niektórych autorów rozwój larwalny odbywa w podziemnych chodnikach zwierząt. Postacie dojrzałe poławiano od kwietnia do października na kwiatach różnych roślin, a niekiedy razem z E. (E.) depressa (Ill.), pod przegrzybioną korą i w soku z ran drzew.
