Taxon description
Gatunek szeroko rozmieszczony od Wysp Brytyjskich, skrajnych prowincji północnych Fennoskandii i Karelii przez Europę środkową aż do Pirenejów, Włoch i północnej części Półwyspu Bałkańskiego; ku wschodowi przez Syberię docierający do Kraju Nadmorskiego. W Polsce, choć nie znany jeszcze z wielu krain, występuje prawdopodobnie w całym kraju. Poławiany pod przegrzybioną korą brzóz, buków i dębów, w soku wypływającym z ran na drzewach liściastych, na hubach z rodzaju żagiew — Polyporus (Mich.) Fr. i hubiak — Fomes (Fr.) Teix.; niekiedy znajdowany na kwiatach i w przegrzybiałej ściółce z liści bukowych.
