Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1983:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w południowej i środkowej części Europy oraz na Kaukazie, wszędzie występujący lokalnie i nie często spotykany. W Polsce chrząszcz bardzo rzadki, znany z pięciu krain południowych. Z uwagi na wymagania środowiskowe dane o występowaniu w okolicy Warszawy wydają się być niewiarygodne. Zamieszkuje podgórza i niższe położenia górskie. Żyje w małych, zimnych strumieniach górskich, również w potokach leśnych oraz w źródłach i rozlewiskach. Poławiany przeważnie na kamieniach i wśród mchów wodnych, najczęściej w strefie występowania pstrąga.
