Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony głównie w środkowej i południowej części Europy oraz w Afryce Północnej, poza tym notowany z Kaukazu, Azji Mniejszej, Libanu, Syrii, Iranu i Afganistanu. W Polsce szeroko rozprzestrzeniony na terenach nizinnych i pagórkowatych, ale wszędzie lokalnie i sporadycznie spotykany. Występuje na glebach piaszczystych, lessowych i wapiennych, przeważnie w ekskrementach bydła.
