Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1978:

Gatunek zamieszkujący południową, i środkową Europę, na wschód przez Azję Mniejszą sięgający do środkowej Azji, notowany ponadto z Algierii i Kaukazu. W Polsce chrząszcz nadzwyczaj rzadko występujący, wykazany zaledwie z kilku stanowisk; dane o jego występowaniu są oparte o znaleziska z ubiegłego stulecia. Spotykany przeważnie w odchodach bydlęcych, niekiedy w grzybach i pod gnijącymi resztkami roślinnymi.
