Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w prawie całej Europie z wyjątkiem jej skrajnych południowych, i północnych części, wykazywany też z Azji Mniejszej oraz pobrzeży czarnomorskich Kaukazu. Żyje na terenach otwartych, niekiedy tylko spotykany w lasach oraz na torfowiskach, głównie w stojących, zarośniętych zbiornikach wodnych, zwłaszcza stawach, starorzeczach i łachach. W wodach płynących rzadko znajdowany.
