Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1992:
Gatunek rozpowszechniony w prawie całej Europie z wyjątkiem północnych prowincji Fennoskandii. Jesionowiec rdzawy jest w Polsce na ogół rzadko spotykany, wykazywany z nielicznych stanowisk w różnych częściach kraju. Gatunek monograficzny, żerujący na strzałach i gałęziach jesionów. Chodnik macierzysty w kształcie poprzecznej lub ukośnej klamry. Z obu stron chodnika macierzystego odchodzą liczne chodniki larwalne, ściśle obok siebie tak, że stykają się brzegami. Przed przepoczwarczeniem larwy wgryzają się pionowo lub skośnie w drewno, gdzie budują komory poczwarkowe. Owad zimuje jako postać dojrzała i ukazuje się w maju.
