Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Pospolity w środowiskach borowych, zwłaszcza podmokłych, motyl lata od poł. V do poł. VIII. Gąsienice żerują na liściach jagód i łochyń od końca VII do pocz. IX. Przed przepoczwarczeniem się gąsienice budują oprzędy między liśćmi na ziemi. Zimują poczwarki lub dorosłe gąsienice. W przypadku zaniepokojenia gąsienice wykonują gwałtowne ruchy obronne, skręcając ciało wielokrotnie na boki i ratując się ucieczką. Mają umiejętność odrzucania daleko od siebie grudek kału, podobnie jak czynią to widłogonki.
