Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1976:

Gatunek rozmieszczony w północnej, północno-wschodniej Europie i Syberii, wykazywany też z Zabajkala i Ameryki Północnej. W Fennoskandii sięga skrajnej północy, nie znany w ogóle z Wysp Brytyjskich. Z Polski wykazywany z wyspy Uznam, Niziny Wielkopolsko-Kujawskiej, okolic Warszawy, Śląska, Karkonoszy i Roztocza, dane te opierały się prawdopodobnie na błędnych oznaczeniach Ilybius aenescens Thoms. Występowanie u nas możliwe w północnej części kraju, co winno być stwierdzone dowodowymi materiałami, których dotychczas brak. Warunki ekologiczne słabo poznane. Wykazywany z różnych zbiorników wodnych, na przykład bajorek, stawów, jezior o mulistym dnie, skalnych zbiorników nadbrzeżnych i zbiorników w pasie lasów brzozowych.
