Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1985:
Gatunek rozmieszczony głównie w południowej i środkowej części Europy, notowany również z dwu południowych prowincji Norwegii, z Kaukazu i Zakaukazia oraz północno-zachodniej części Afryki. W Polsce spotykany sporadycznie i dość rzadko, przy czym większość danych o rozmieszczeniu jest oparta na znaleziskach z ubiegłego stulecia. Jest to gatunek oligofagiczny, rozwijający się w lipach. Generacja jednoroczna w południowej części zasięgu, przedłuża się w Europie Środkowej do 2-3 lat. Larwy żyją w pniach i grubszych gałęziach, gdzie żerują pod korą i w łyku, w następstwie czego odpada kora, usychają gałęzie i drzewa w końcu obumierają. Rójka postaci dojrzałych odbywa się od maja do lipca; są one bardzo ruchliwe i w dnie słoneczne latają zwykle wysoko w koronach drzew, z tego też powodu rzadko są poławiane.
