Gatunek rozmieszczony w zachodniej i środkowej Europie, wschodnia granica jego zasięgu przebiega przez Polskę i Czechosłowację, na południe dociera do Siedmiogrodu. Zarówno wszędzie, jak i w Polsce rzadko spotykany, poławiany zwykle wiosną i latem na terenach lesistych.
