Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony od krajów śródziemnomorskich po Wyspy Brytyjskie, Danię i Fennoskandię, gdzie w Szwecji dociera do koła podbiegunowego. W Polsce rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany na nielicznych, rozproszonych stanowiskach w różnych częściach kraju. Zasiedla pola, łąki, wąwozy, ogrody, zarośla, przydroża i słoneczne zbocza. Jako rośliny żywicielskie były podawane w piśmiennictwie: iglica pospolita — Erodium cicutarium (L.) L'Hérit., bodziszek czerwony — Geranium sanguineum L., bodziszek drobny — G. pusillum L., bodziszek kosmaty — G. molle L., bodziszek łąkowy — G. pratense L., bodziszek pirenejski — G. pyrenaicum L. i bodziszek żałobny — G. phaeum L.
