Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1995:
Gatunek występujący w zachodniej, południowej i środkowej części Europy, sięgający na północ po Danię i południową Skandynawię; notowany poza tym z Kaukazu, Syberii i Algierii. W Polsce, chociaż nie jest znany z niektórych krain, występuje prawdopodobnie w całym kraju prócz wyższych partii górskich. Jest spotykany na ogół rzadko. Żyje na jarzębinie — Sorbus aucuparia L., gruszy pospolitej — Pirus communis L. i różnych gatunkach róż — Rosa L. Postacie dojrzałe kryją się w ciągu dnia w przyziemnej strefie roślin, a żerują na liściach w nocy. Larwy odbywają rozwój w cienkich gałęziach; drążą chodniki pod korą i odżywiają się tkankami łyka i bielu.
