Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1995:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony od Afryki Północnej po Syberię przez prawie całą Europę. W Polsce rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany. Nie jest jeszcze u nas znany z wielu krain, na przykład na niżu z Mazur i Podlasia, oraz z obszarów górskich (poza Beskidem Wschodnim). Zapewne na podstawie rozmieszczenia ogólnego, S. Smreczyński (1972) wyraził pogląd, że ryjkowiec ten występuje w całej Polsce. Żyje na sośnie zwyczajnej — Pinus silvestris L., głównie na drzewach młodszych. Larwy odbywają rozwój w rdzeniu pędów szczytowych, zwłaszcza w koronie drzew.
