Taxon description
Szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w całej Europie, w Szwecji docierający do koła podbiegunowego, a na wschód do Syberii. W Polsce, chociaż nie jest jeszcze znany z niektórych krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych gór. Jako rośliny żywicielskie podawane są: czeremcha zwyczajna — Padus avium Mill., jarząb pospolity — Sorbus aucuparia L., głóg dwuszyjkowy — Crataegus oxyacantha L., grusza pospolita — Pirus communis L., śliwa tarnina — Prunus spinosa L., śliwa domowa — P. domestica L., wiśnia pospolita — Cerasus vulgaris Mill., morela zwyczajna — Armeniaca vulgaris Lam., pigwa pospolita — Cydonia vulgaris Pers. i róża dzika — Rosa canina L. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się na roślinach w kwietniu, żerują na liściach i pączkach, przeżywają do czerwca. Samice składają jaja w zieloną korę młodych gałązek, które później obumierają na skutek żerowania larw.
